Hugues Masaki, a painter from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, lives and works in Kinshasa. His artistic practice is deeply inspired by everyday Congolese life, highlighting the cultural richness and resilience of his people. Through his canvases, he celebrates the beauty of traditions, the poetry of simple moments, and the creativity found in daily life.

His work has been presented in several exhibitions, notably at the first edition of the international art fair Art African Excellency in Seraing, Belgium, in May 2024. He was also noticed by Tobina Gallery through its partnership with the association Jeunes Artistes d’Avenir, and more recently exhibited at the Institut Français de Kinshasa – Halle de la Gombe as part of the exhibition “At the Heart of Life”, held from May 15 to June 21, 2025.

Hugues Masaki’s creations stand out for their serene and positive portrayal of Africa, far removed from commonly conveyed stereotypes. His works capture scenes of everyday life—women at the well, children playing, lively markets—offering an authentic and optimistic vision of Congolese reality.
